SPITI

In Local language Spiti means “middle country”It’s higher than Lahaul valley. Its Northern most peak is Cho-Cho lang (Kilta) peak.Spiti is called as living museum and also known as the fossil park of the world.
Prior to 10th century AD, Spiti was ruled over by the Hindu kings of Sen Dynasty.
Spiti had been a genuine part of Great Tibet, till acquired by Palgyi Gon, the Chief of Ladakh, in10th century.
After re-consolidation of Ladakh Kingdom, in 1600 AD, Spiti went with a Tibetan principality governed from Lahasa.
In 1630 Spiti was again included in Ladakh under King Singhi Namgyal but lost again. It was regained in 1720 AD, when he got Spiti as dowry from Guge principality when king Namgyal married their daughter after a war. In 1776 AD, Busharis held Dhankar Fort for 2 years.
