Chenab
Chandra river originates from Chandra taal and river Bhaga from Surajtal, both rivers meet at Tandi near Baralacha pass to form river Chenab.This river leaves HP at Sansari nallah (Chamba). This is the largest River in H.P. in terms of volume of water. Tributaries are Chandra, Bhaga.Vedic name of this river is Askini and Sanskrit name is Chandrabhaga.
Satluj
Sanskrit name is Shatadru and vedic name is Sutudri.Rises from Rakastal near Mansarovar lake in Tibet.It enters HP at Shipkila (Kinnaur) and left HP at Bhakra Dam (Bilaspur). Main tributaries are Baspa, Spiti, NogliKhad, Soan, Ropa, Kashang, Throng, Rupi. This is the longest river of Himachal.
Ravi
Sanskrit name is Purushani and vedic name is Iravati.Rises from Bara Bhangal in Kangra and leaving HP at Kheri in Chamba.Main tributaries are Bhadal, Siul, Baira, Tanti Giri.
Beas
This river rises from Beas Kund near Rohtang pass in Kullu. Sanskrit name is Bipasha and vedic name is Aarijikia. This river leaves HP at Mirthal and enters into Punjab.Major tributaries of Beas are Awa, Baner, Banganga, Chakki, Luni, Uhl, Neugal, Parbati, Sainj, Patlikul, Suketi, Tirthan.
Yamuna
Yamuna is the smallest river of Himachal rises from Kalind mountain of Yamnotri in Uttarakhand. River enters HP at Khadar Majri in Sirmour and left the state at Tajewala and enters into Haryana. Major tributaries are Andhra, Asni, Bata, Giri, Markanda, Pabbar, Patsari and Tons. Vedic name is Kalindi.
